Bell Tower Cultural Center

In 2013 the members of the First Baptist Church gave the Florence Arts Council an enormous gift: their church building, constructed in 1898. The Arts Council has created the Bell Tower Cultural Center as a center of learning, culture and the arts in Florence. When I visited there were three gallery exhibits on display -- all very impressive work by local artists. In addition, there is space for concerts, lectures and theater performances to celebrate the area's rich cultural heritage, as well as classroom space for hands-on workshops for members of the community to learn new skills. I was completely impressed with the dedication of the volunteers, the vision of the arts council and the busy calendar of events demonstrating the old church building is being put to very good use.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment.
Location: 201 East Second Street, Florence, CO 81226
