Red Rock Canyon Open Space

We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.
--John Hope Franklin (1915-2009) American historian.

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is located between Colorado Springs and Manitou, south of Highway 24. It's an enormous park (789 acres) filled with geological wonders. The area is similar to Garden of the Gods in terms of its red sandstone formations, and provides recreational opportunities for rock climbers, hikers and mountain bikers. What a great place to hike and explore!
