Seven Falls

224 steps lead to the top of the falls

Tunnel leading to elevator.
Seven Falls is a natural wonder with water cascading 181 feet down the granite South Cheyenne Canyon. A stairway consisting of 224 steps lead adventurers to overlooks and trails at the top of the falls. The other option is to walk through a tunnel to an elevator leading 14 stories up through the granite to "the Eagle's Nest" viewing platform.  The views from the Eagle's Nest are fantastic. My photos, taken on a very sunny day don't really do it justice. If you visit at night, the entire waterfall is lit up in a colorful display. See their website for more photos.  For map and directions, click here.
Eagle's Nest Observation Platform

The drive leading through the canyon to the falls is spectacular. The Pillars of Hercules, just as you enter the property, soar 900 feet above the canyon floor. At its narrowest the canyon walls are just 41 feet apart.

Update: Following a flood in 2013, the area was closed due to damage to the road, fallen trees and debris on the falls. The attraction and surrounding land was recently sold to The Broadmoor, a nearby luxury hotel and resort, and will reopen in the Summer of 2015.

Approach road views are gorgeous
